Scores of graduate and doctoral students enrolled for the ECOWAS Fellowship programme are stranded in Senegal and Nigeria.
The students said that they have been starving for the past 9months as ECOWAS has neglected them and refused to pay their stipends since September 2017.
They say their situation has become critical because their landlords are threatening to arrest them for inability to pay their house rents.
ECOWAS officials are yet to comment on the matter despite WADR contacting them for their side of the story.
Aniefiok John Udokang, a PhD student of Population Genetics at Dakar’s Cheikh Anta Diop University, highlighted the plight of the students to WADR.
