Sierra Leone’s new president, Julius Maada Bio says his country is in a financial crisis.
President Maada Bio made the disclosure on Thursday during a joint meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and his country’s ministry of Finance.
He said that he inherited an economy in its worst shape since independence in 1961.
Government's initial assessments show that external and domestic debts stand at 2.6 billion dollars which is two-thirds the size of the country’s economy.
WADR’s Adolphus Mawolo spoke to Sierra Leonean journalist, Mohammed Massaquoi for more details on President Bio’s disclosure.
