Soldiers in the second largest Ivorian city of Bouake are reported to have looted weapons from the base of a rival elite military unit before setting it on fire during an overnight clash.

Bouake was the epicentre of several months of army mutinies last year that spread to cities and towns across Ivory Coast. This led the orcing government to succumb to demands for bonus payments and promotions.
