A prominent Kenyan human rights activist and former UN Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of association, has criticized Kenya’s election commission over election results dispute.
The criticism of Maina Kiai followed Wednesday’s admission by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) that results paraded on TV screens might be false.
On Wednesday, violence erupted in some parts of Kenya after the opposition leader; Raila Odinga held a press conference to denounce the results which put the incumbent, Uhuru Kenyatta in front.
Two protesters were shot dead by police in the capital as unrest broke out after opposition claims of massive rigging.
Mr. Kiai spoke to journalists in Nairobi.
