About 18 students died in an accident after trees fell on swimmers in a popular Water fall in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana.
The spokesperson of the Ghana national fire service Mr. Prince Bill Anaglatey said the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when a group of high school students were swimming at the Kintampo waterfalls.
Anaglatey further stated that 18 students died at the scene while two others are still not accounted for. 11 more have been left injured and receiving treatment including one of the school administrators in charge of the trip.
The Ghana National Fire service and the police were on site to help with rescue work.
The Kintampo waterfalls are surrounded by woodland and are located on the Pumpum river, a tributary of the Black Volta.
