A statement from the National Electoral Commission (NEC) says the exercise would last until April 16, 2017.
The statement further revealed that the registration of voters is part of a larger national registration, including non-citizens. It however explained that first half of the exercise will be strictly for citizens eligible to vote.
The Presidential election in Sierra Leone is scheduled for March 2018.
Ahead of the registration exercise the National Security is deploying security across the country.
Francis Lagumba Keili is a Director with the National Security. He spoke to WADR’s Correspondent, Mohamed Konneh on preparations for the exercise.
