In Sierra Leone, a new project has been launched to promote Young women’s Political participation in this post-war nation.

The project was launched on Tuesday by the country’s Gender Research and Documentation center and the Political science Department of the University of Sierra Leone, in collaboration with “50/50” Group.

Its aim is to map young women’s political participation at local government level and in students’ bodies at tertiary institutions.

The project will also track the political engagement and participation of young female aspirants and their strategies for engaging in local council and parliamentary elections in 2012.

WADR’s Freetown Correspondent Mohamed Konneh reports.
