Senegal: Symposium to strengthen ECOWAS Court opens
A symposium on the enforcement of judicial decisions by the ECOWAS court is underway in the Senegalese capital, Dakar.
The symposium is co-organized by the West Africa Bar Association, the International Commission of Justice and the sub-regional rights group RADDHO.
It looks at strengthening the role of the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice in promoting and protecting human rights and the rule of law in West Africa.
The symposium is also to strengthen the role of the sub-regional Court, as a vibrant and effective and judicial institution, that would be better placed to interpret the laws of the region and to effectively administer justice for all.
Olawale Fapohundo is the General Secretary of the West Africa Bar Association.
