Blending modern & traditional medicines to fight HIV/AIDS

May 31, 2012

In Ivory Coast, the country’s Health Ministry appears to be moving ahead in efforts to encourage greater collaboration between modern and traditional medicines, especially in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Officials said such collaboration must be in exchange of experience and knowhow, in order to boost local research

Authorities have however warned that the policy to promote traditional medicine must not be a gateway for quacks, who would pretend to be traditional medicine practitioners with financial motive.

Dr. Kro Ehoulè, Director of the National Program for the Promotion of Traditional Medicine in the Ivory Coast has been speaking about this in the main city, Abidjan.
