Ghana: MPs review criminal offenses law, cement shortage
Ghana is reviewing its criminal offenses law which is said to be weak.
The law is to be given more teeth to include making a criminal offense the unlawful use of human parts, force disappearance and sexual exploitation.
The country’s parliament began debating the new provisions to be added to the criminal offenses law on Wednesday.
Presidential and parliamentary elections are due to be held in Ghana in December, with incumbent President John Atta Mills seeking a second and final mandate.

In another development, as the construction industry booms in Ghana, cement is now in short supply.
The shortage of cement has led to a hike in the prices of the product, with price increases put at between 20-30%.
As Nana Afriyie Kwarkye reports from Accra, the cement shortage is causing serious problems not only for people who want to use the product to build but it is also causing the shedding of jobs.
