Liberia’s Supreme Court Chief Justice Johnnie Lewis has threatened to sack clerks of courts for tampering with jury
selection across the West African nation.

“We don’t have a good jury system…we don’t have it,” Lewis declared.

His latest threat comes after a series of controversies surrounding jurors in a number of past court cases, while others have brought the entire jury system into question.

Chief Justice Lewis said he would do all within his power to maintain the credibility of the eroding jury system, when money were said to be frequently changing hands in numerous court cases.

As WADR’s Monrovia Correspondent William Selmah reports, the head of Liberia’s high court was speaking at the opening of the May Term of Court in the capital.
