Authorities in Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos has ordered the eviction of 788 striking doctors from their official residence, further deepening the crisis in the health sector.

The hundreds of doctors have been on strike for weeks now and the Governor of Lagos state recently announced their sacking for failing to resume work.

The striking doctors had earlier taken the authorities to court for announcing their sacking.

Analysts say the move to evict them from the government residence amounts to adding insult to injury.

But Lagos state Governor Babatunde Fashola described as  uncompromising and irresponsible, the attitude of the doctors, which he blamed for the present eviction action.

WADR’s Nigeria Correspondent Martins Martins reports.
