Negotiations held in Mali between the coup leaders and a delegation from the sub-regional bloc, ECOWAS hit a snag at the weekend.

Coup leader Captain Amadou Sanogo had spoken against the deployment of any foreign troops in the country and said what Mali needed was logistical and financial support to fight the rebel insurgency in the north of the country.
