Nigeria to scrap anti graft agencies
Nigeria plans to scrap both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission.
The recommendation is in a report submitted on Monday by the Presidential Committee on the Rationalization and Restructuring of Federal Government Parastatals, Commissions and Agencies.
The two key anti-corruption agencies were performing the functions of the Nigeria Police Force, the recommendation said.
Chairman of the committee and a former head of service of the federation, Stephen Oronsaye recommended the abolition of 38 agencies, merger of 52 and downgrading of 14 agencies to departments in the relevant ministries.
