Countries around the world are on Saturday April 7 celebrating World Health Day around the theme, ageing and health.

This year’s theme comes with a pep slogan, good health adds life to years.

World Health Organization (WHO) officials say there is increasing demand on health services with ageing.

In a report, the World Health Organization says for the first time, there will be more people in the world above age 60 than children aged less than five in the next few years.

The WHO is calling for urgent action to provide adequate health for older people.

The UN health agency said this would ensure that with the world's population ageing rapidly, people can reach old age I n the best possible health.

According to the WHO report, by 2050, 80 percent of the world’s older people will be living in low- and middle-income countries.

WHO officials in the West African sub-region have been speaking with Journalists about the increasing demand on health services with ageing,

One of them is Dr. Wondimagegnehu Alemu, WHO Representative in Sierra Leone.
