NIGERIA: Charges dropped against Russian sailors

The Federal Government on Tuesday dropped the charges against eight out of the 15 Russian sailors charged with unlawful importation of arms into Nigeria. But the remaining seven sailors still face prosecution. Nigerian naval officers boarded the MV Myre Seadiver in October 2012. According to reports, at the time, the ship had left the Russian port Baltyisk in June and had been based in the Gulf of Aden before relocating to the Gulf of Guinea, entering the port of Lagos for repairs.
