ICC 1st verdict nails DRC warlord Lubanga guilty
In its 1st verdict, the International Criminal Court, ICC has found former Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) rebel leader, Thomas Lubanga guilty of recruiting and using child soldiers,
Announcing the first verdict since it was set up ten years ago in the Hague, the ICC on Wednesday said Lubanga used child soldiers between 2002 and 2003, the BBC reports.
He will be sentenced at a later hearing. Lubanga headed a rebel group during an inter-ethnic conflict in a gold-rich region of DRC.
The prosecution accused him of using children as young as nine as bodyguards, sex slaves and fighters.
