Ghana: schools not letting teachers help in voter registration
February 25, 2012Ghana’s first attempt to use biometric registration in December’s presidential and general elections has hit a wall of opposition from educational sector.
School authorities have refused to release teachers to the electoral commission for the exercise to help in conducting the registration.
The registration of voters is just a few days away, and many school authorities say releasing their teaching staff will destabilize the academic calendar.
But why teachers?
