Bamako residents urge police to crack down on armed robbery
There are reports of an upsurge in armed robbery in the Malian capital, Bamako, with armed gangs carrying out their operations both at night and in broad daylight, as residents urge the police to crack down on them.
This has led to deaths and injuries of innocent people, triggering a wave of panic amongst residents of the city. Most of them are said to be on the alert, with some people now finding it hard to have a quiet and peaceful night’s rest.
The national police force has been at work, in a bid to bring the situation under control and ensure the safety of the population.
However, some Malians believe the various strategies put in place so far by the security forces seem to be ineffective in dealing with the menace.
