Initially, two men were arrested but the Ghanaian police say five are now being investigated, both Ghanaians and Nigerians.

As WADR’s Accra Correspondent Kofi Agyepong reports, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ghana has described the arrests as a timely intervention from Ghana.

In Nigeria itself, despite threats that they would lose their jobs if they do not show up for work, Federal government workers in Nigeria have continued to stay away from work, as the national strike entered its third day on Wednesday.

The nationwide strike and mass protests called by organized labour in Nigeria has reached its fourth day today, Thursday.

Talks are underway between the labour unions and the Nigerian government to resolve the standoff, as  the Senate President David Mark and other officials engage union officials for the third day.

WADR’s Correspondent Martins Martins reports from Abuja.
