Sierra Leone Remembers Dark Past

January 6 will forever be a dark day in the minds of Sierra Leoneans.Thirteen years ago on this day, January 6 1999, rebels from the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) invaded the capital Freetown, killing and maiming hundreds of civilians including women and children.

That brutal incident abruptly disrupted the peace and development of the country thus slowing down the economic growth and social cohesion of that West African country.

But how is this day remembered in Sierra Leone?
