ICC slaps 4 charges on Gbargbo—“indirect co-perpetrator” of  rape, murder…

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has now disclosed that former Ivorian President Laurent has been detained in the Hague on four charges

The charges are that the former Ivorian leader was an "indirect co-perpetrator" of murder, rape, persecution and other inhuman acts.

Gbagbo, 66, was placed in detention in The Hague early on Wednesday, after being flown from Ivory Coast.

He is the first former head of state to be detained to face trial in The Hague by the ICC since its founding in 2002.

Another African leader, Liberian President Charles Taylor is being detained in the ICC prison, but he’s being tried by the UN backed Sierra Leone Special court.
