Guinea Bissau: 2 parties to boycott reonciliation confab
The Social Renovation Party of former Guinea Bissau President KoumbaYala and the Republican Party for Independence and Development will boycott the upcoming national reconciliation conference.
The reconciliation conference is due to take place in January in the capital, Bissau, according to the Africa Press Agency (APA).
It is intended to build the fragile peace this West African country has been experiencing, since it held democratic election in July 2009.
The two parties threatened boycott of the national reconciliation conference come hard on the heels of recent street protests in Bissau.
The demonstrators have been calling for the removal of Prime Minister, Carlos Gomez Junior.
