Ghana's population up by 600,000 yearly
Ghana faces a population explosion, with official figures showing that the population grows by 600,000 every year.
This means that if this trend continues, the country's population will grow by hooping 6 million every ten years, officials say.
The revelation was made during this year's celebration of World Population Day in the Ghanaian capital, Accra this week.
Authorities say the country's population has increased substantially over the years, as a result of poor family planning practices and other factors.
As a result, they say there is a huge infrastructural mismatch, intense pressure on housing facilities and the available educational and health infrastructures are not enough to meet the needs of the rising population.
