IFRC official hails Liberians for caring for Ivorian refugees
The Vice President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has ended an assessment mission to Liberia, hailing its people for their hospitality to some 100,000 Ivorian refugees.
Paul Birech, who is touring the West African sub-region to familiarize himself with activities and programs of national chapters, has left Liberia for neigbouring Ivory Coast.
His visit to Liberia started 3 July, when he flew in from Nigeria. During his mission to Liberia the IFRC executive visited a number of facilities, including refugee camps and transit centers in the northeastern part of the country, in addition to meeting with heads of several institutions.
