Nigerian lawyers say it’s premature to abolish death penalty

Amid calls for the abolition of the death penalty, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr Joe Daudu (SAN) has said it was premature to advocate for its abolition from the country’s legal system.

The Managing Director of the World Bank Sri Mulyani Indrawati has concluded a visit to Liberia, promising more support to the West African nation in the amount of US$240m for its development programmes over the next three years.

Indrawati promised that the Bank would remain “a strong and reliable partner of the government of Liberia.”
