Liberia’s President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf is calling on citizens to turn out and vote in the presidential runoff election next Tuesday, criticizing her opponent’s decision to boycott the polls.

Liberia's main opposition party, Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) of Winston Tubman has announced that it will not take part in next Tuesday's presidential run-off election against incumbent President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.

CDC, which came second in the first round of election on October 11, is demanding replacement of members of the current National Elections Commission, recount from the ballots in the first round, among other things before they can take part in any runoff. Former Liberian international football star George Weah is the party's Vice Presidential candidate.
