U.S. gives $9m boost to Monrovia power supply

Electricity in Liberia's capital, Monrovia, remains notoriously in short supply and erratic despite a gradual electrification of parts of the city.

But now, the US government has stepped in to boost the service, providing a 9 million dollar grant.

Delegates further agreed that it was important to come up with a concerted municipal strategy to improve access to clean water and promote a clean city.

Nigerian army claims success in curbing Niger Delta oil theft

The Joint Task Force (JTF) operating in Nigeria’s oil-rich Niger Delta has said it impounded 700 boats, barges, and trucks in nearly 3,000 operations in the area against oil theft.
