The two-day high level event brings together West African First Ladies, state ministers, gender activists and policy-makers, among others to discuss some of the burning gender issues affecting women in the sub-region.

Electricity bill payment a nightmare in Senegal

Electricity bill payment in the Senegalese capital, Dakar and elsewhere is becoming a nightmare, as most offices of the energy company, Senelec were either ransacked or set ablaze by rioters last month.

With just a few bill payment offices functional, customers are obliged to stand in long queues for several hours just to pay their electricity bills. Some complained that it took them a whole day to get to the payment counter.

 

Senegal's judicial workers suspend strike

The justice workers in Senegal have suspended months of strike following this week’s negotiation with the government.

The judicial workers started an indefinite strike three months ago after the government failed to heed their call for better wages and working conditions.

 

Pro-democracy group scrutinizes Liberia's MPs

Pro-democracy group, the Liberia Democratic Institute (LDI) has released its Third Quarter Legislative Report Card for members of the Liberian Legislature.

The report under the theme, “Lawmaker:What Law Has Thou Made?”, scrutinizes the performance of the lawmakers on their attendance at the parliament and contribution to parliamentary debates. It also highlights the nature of laws that were passed.

 

 

Togo: Health workers end strike, resume service delivery

Health workers in Togo have resumed work across the country after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of President Faure Gnasingbe. Workers’ representatives all agreed to end the strike on Thursday.
