S. Leonean parents demand "trafficked" children's return

Reports say the governor of a northern Nigerian state rocked by bomb and shooting attacks has urged a radical Islamists blamed for the attacks, to accept a ceasefire and embrace dialogue with authorities.

Kashim Shettima, governor of northeastern Borno State, called on members of the Boko Haram sect that is said have in recent weeks, stepped up bomb and drive-by shooting attacks in the state capital, Maiduguri to lay down arms and negotiate with his government.

CAF suspends 4 Senegalese players, coach

The African Football governing body, CAF has officially suspended four Senegalese players and coach, Amara Traore following last month’s ill-tempered encounter with Cameroon in Yaounde.


Senegal will now play their 2012 African Nations Cup qualifier against DR Congo in early September without the four players and the coach.

Senegal: Scientists discover 'new' anti-malaria drug

A research in Senegal has discovered that a drug commonly used to treat head lice and heartworm can fight against the spread of malaria.

A group of US scientists from the Colorado State University made the discovery while in Senegal, with the assistance of the Senegalese Health Ministry. They have found that the drug, ivermectin helps kill off disease-carrying mosquitoes that feed from people.
