ECOWAS gearing up for Liberia's presidential run off

Heads of state of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS are holding an extraordinary summit on Tuesday at the Commission’s HQ in Abuja to discuss the rotation of statutory positions in institutions of the bloc.

The sub-regional grouping, ECOWAS has welcomed the easing of tension in Liberia, after a large number of opposition parties last Saturday announced they were pulling out of the electoral process.

The first annual Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa (CCDA-I) is underway in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

The three-day conference, organized by the by Economic Commission for Africa, ECA’s African Climate Policy Centre (ACPC),  is expected to provide a forum for dialogue, awareness raising so as to mobilize effective commitment and actions on climate change by African stakeholders, an ECA press statement said.
