Senegalese replaces Nigerian as World Bank VP

A Senegalese national has been appointed as the new World Bank Vice President for Africa, replacing Nigerian Obiageli Oby Ezekwesili.

A World Bank press release received by WADR says, Makhtar Diop succeeds Ezekwesili who will return to Nigeria in early May, after serving as the region's Vice President since 2007.

Mali’s Defense ministry says government troops have overrun positions of rebel forces, comprising Malian fighters returning from Libya, who attacked the northern town of Menaka.

The fighting comes just days after a delegation of Malians from Libya including pro-Kadhafi ex-fighters met with President, Amani Toumani Toure recently and pledged their support to the state.
