ECOWAS heads of state hold special summit on Mali today

Last Thursday’s military coup in Mali will be the main agenda issue of an extraordinary summit of the sub-regional bloc, ECOWAS on Tuesday in Ivory Coast main city, Abidjan.

ECOWAS Chairman, Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara is convening the summit.

World Bank to give Liberia US$240m, but wants reforms

The Managing Director of the World Bank Sri Mulyani Indrawati has concluded a visit to Liberia, promising more support to the West African nation in the amount of US$240m for its development programmes over the next three years.

Indrawati promised that the Bank would remain “a strong and reliable partner of the government of Liberia.”
