Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia reaffirm security ties
October 22, 2012The leaders of Liberia and Cote d’Ivoire have renewed their commitment to end insecurity along their common borders and promote a spirit of good neighborliness.
Presidents Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and Alassane Ouattara of Liberia and Cote d’Ivoire respective, made the commitment at the weekend during a working visit to Abidjan, the Ivorian capital, by President Johnson-Sirleaf.

Teachers of the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS), the largest public school body, said they will not return to the classrooms until their demands are met for salary increment proportionate to their qualifications.

October 9, 2012President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s approach to dealing with corruption and reconciliation got a scathing rebuke from her fellow Liberian Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Leymah Gbowee, as she resigns her post in Sirleaf’s government.
Speaking at her book launch in Paris, Ms Gbowee said she was resigning as head of the National Reconciliation Commission created by Sirleaf last year and that the Liberian leader has failed to fight corruption and nepotism.
Ex- General ties Liberian Army defections to restructuring ‘flaws’
September 24, 2012A former Liberian army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Kpaingba Y. Konah, has cited ‘fundamental flaws’ in the restructuring process of the post-war national army as one of the key reasons for growing defections within the military.
General Konah claims that the Liberian government violated provisions for the restructuring of the army as contained in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement signed by stakeholders in Accra, Ghana that ended the 14-year civil war.
