Nigerian gov't takes over three banks
August 7, 2011Reports say the Nigerian government has taken over management of three banks rescued under a major 2009 bailout amid concerns over their ability to recapitalise by a September 30 deadline.
An official statement said the three banks -- Afribank Plc, Bank PHB Plc and Spring Bank Plc -- "have not shown the necessary capacity and ability to recapitalize within the deadline.
