Libya: NTC calls for patience, amid water and power shortages
August 28, 2011As Libya’s rebel National Transitional Council consolidate its authority in the troubled North African country, residents of the capital, Tripoli continue to face running water and electricity shortages.
This is due to months of fighting across the country. The council in a statement vowed to make what it described as ‘this difficult period" as short as possible. But it warned the population not to expect a miracle in turning the country around.
Nigeria: Boko Haram 'claims responsibility' for UN attack
August 28, 2011Nigeria’s extremist Islamic group is reported to have claimed responsibility of the attack on the UN building in Abuja.
Boko Haram spokesman was quoted by VOA Television as claiming his group carried out the bombing. He also warned, according to the TV, that the attack was just the beginning.
Cameroon remands four alleged homosexuals
August 28, 2011Reports say authorities in Cameroon have remanded four people between the ages of 17 and 46 after charging them with homosexuality.
One of the accused has reportedly claimed that he was arrested at his home in the capital Yaounde after "somebody turned up and asked to see a 'gay film' in his company".

The Ivory Coast has added the 30-year-old Manchester City defender to its squad for the September 3rd match against Rwanda in Kigali.
