Between 2016 and 2017, the elections in Nigeria, Togo, Guinea Conakry, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Benin, Niger, The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone were all given special coverage by WADR. Instead of reports from the correspondents on the ground, WADR sent senior producers to these countries who coordinated with partner community radio stations in all the countries concerned for the production of daily reports, interviews and programmes on the electoral process for broadcast focussing on the different regions in the countries.
WADR ensures all sides involved in the voting process have their voices heard as much as is possible. This makes for an unbiased coverage that allows listeners to understand the main issues each country is dealing with and the thoughts of the all stakeholders.
From 2016 to – date WADR has been investing in special election coverages.
One major aspect of our election coverage is the engagement with Africans in the diaspora who regularly visit our site to follow the developments. Our web statistics always reflect the rise in audience during election season.
